ACA Graduate Course Preapproval Program
Please Note: The old list of schools and courses preapproved under the ACA Graduate Course Preapproval Program did not transfer well to the new web site. While redesigning, we are also evaluating the program to make sure it and the associated processes are both useful and sustainable.
Each year the Academy of Certified Archivists (ACA) must verify the qualifications of applicants who want to take the Certification Examination. This free program preapproves graduate courses in archival studies, library science, and information science programs.
Using a rubric based on the ACA’s Role Delineation Statement domains, the course preapproval committee determines which courses meet the criteria for approval. Once approved, faculty and their programs can promote the courses as being “ACA-preapproved.” The committee will reevaluate courses every five years, and faculty can submit additional syllabi when new classes are offered.
The following schools have had courses approved under the program. If you have questions about specific courses during the program evaluation period, please send an email to the ACA Regent for Exam Administration at examadmin@certifiedarchivists.org.
